MPVI interface
The HP Tuners hardware device that plugs into the OBD-II port and bridges your laptop to the vehicle's ECU for reading, writing, and logging.
The MPVI (Multi-Protocol Vehicle Interface) is HP Tuners' OBD-II dongle, sold across generations as MPVI2, MPVI2+, and MPVI3. It connects your laptop (USB or, on newer units, wirelessly) to the vehicle and handles the actual communication that VCM Editor uses to read/write the calibration and that VCM Scanner uses to log data. The interface also stores your purchased credits and VIN licenses, so it is effectively your tuning license dongle, not just a cable. Newer units (MPVI3) add onboard standalone logging and more memory. For safe work, keep the vehicle battery charged or on a maintainer during a write, because an interrupted flash can corrupt the ECU. Always confirm the interface has a solid connection before initiating a write. In the software, the interface status appears in the connection bar and under the Interface/Credits info dialog.
See it in your own tune.
TuneVault reads your VCM Editor tables and flags exactly this.
