Power Enrichment (PE)

The open-loop mode that commands a richer AFR under high load to make power and protect the engine.

Power Enrichment is the strategy that abandons the stoich cruise target and commands a richer mixture when the driver asks for power. It is triggered by throttle position, load, or RPM thresholds and pulls a commanded AFR (or lambda) from a PE table, typically in the high-12s for naturally aspirated gas and richer under boost. PE matters for safety: the extra fuel cools the combustion charge and reduces detonation risk exactly when cylinder pressure and heat peak, so a poorly set PE table is a fast route to a melted piston. In HP Tuners VCM Editor, PE lives under the fuel/Power Enrichment tables where you set the enable conditions and the commanded AFR by RPM. In VCM Scanner, log the PE-active flag plus wideband AFR to confirm PE engages when expected and that delivered AFR matches the command. Tune PE before adding boost or timing, with the wideband connected.

See it in your own tune.

TuneVault reads your VCM Editor tables and flags exactly this.
